JAMMU, July 4: Akhnoor police arrested a woman bootlegger along with large quantity of illicit liquor.
As per police sources, police team from Akhnoor police station led by SHO Inspector Pushpinder Singh under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Naresh Singh and Incharge SSP Jammu Rajiv Pandey laid a naka at Fuwara Chowk and intercepted a woman on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 35 pouches of illicit liquor and arrested the woman on the spot.
The woman bootlegger has been identified as Surinder Kour, wife of Rajinder Singh of Jad. She was carrying illicit liquor pouches to her native place for sale among locals for illegitimate profits.
A case under FIR No 117/15 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Akhnoor police station and investigation started.
