JAMMU, Aug 16: The former Union Minister of State for Defence and MLA, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta ridiculed the policies of Central Government with regard to Pakistan as also Kashmir.
According to a handout issued here, Prof Gupta said that one could observe a strange friendship that on one hand, the troops exchanged greetings and sweets on the formation Day of Pakistan and the Independence Day of India on the LOC/Border, but, on the other hand, Pakistan resorted to firing just after a few hours.
This, he said, was just a hypocrisy as New Delhi leadership has no Kashmir Policy.
Alleging failure of the UPA Government to pursue further that what was achieved during the NDA rule as Army build up in 2002-03 was withdrawn only after the then Pak President General Musharaf had publicly assured that no territory under control of Pakistan would be allowed for terrorist activities and the ceasefire would be observed strictly, Gupta said the change of guard at New Delhi have returned the things to a deplorable path.
This dubious approach can take most ugly turn any time, he warned and stressed for opting a clear cut approach by telling Pakistan that double doing would not work.
About the misleading slogans of having plebiscite in sorting out so called Kashmir problem, Prof Gupta pointed out that the UN resolution was very clear in this regard that Pakistan had indulged in invasion of Kashmir, hence, it should withdraw its troops from POK, adding that instead of doing so, the Pak Government have constructed huge structures including the Mangla Dam at the historic town of Mirpur submerging the entire areas under waters. A Large number of Pakistanis and Afghanis have been settled in these areas, he added. And above all large areas of occupied Kashmir have been handed over to China.
He welcomed the recent statement of the Defence Minister, AK Antony reiterating the legal and constitutional position as also the unanimous resolution of the Parliament that entire State of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and Pakistan has no locus standii.
