Simon Cowell’s mother dies from stroke

LOS ANGELES, July 6:  Music mogul Simon Cowell’s mother Julie Brett has died after suffering a stroke. She was 89.
According to a statement released through a family spokesperson, the former ballet dancer and socialite passed away on Sunday, July 5, reported Ace Showbiz.
“Today our beloved mum Julie passed away,” the representative said. “Anyone who had met her would know what a truly special and kind lady she was. We are heartbroken and will miss her terribly, but she is now at peace.”
The spokesperson later said that the family was seeking privacy during the difficult time. “We would like to thank the media for kindly respecting Julie’s privacy throughout and we politely request continued privacy for the entire family at this particularly difficult time,” the spokesperson added.
Simon’s brother, journalist Tony, took to Twitter to pay tribute to his mother after the news broke. “Very sad night tonight. We will all miss Mum so very much. She was the heart and soul of our family,” so he wrote.
Julie was married to EMI music executive Eric Philip Cowell, who died in 1999 at 81.
She is a mother of four boys, Nicholas, Simon, Tony and Michael, and also a stepmother to John and June Cowell. She had spent time in a London hospital before her passing. (PTI)
