Hill Development Council must for Chenab Valley: Saroori

KISHTWAR, July 6: Former Minister and Congress legislator from Inderwal G M Saroori demanded setting up of Hill Development Council for Chenab region and raised public issues in the District Development Board meeting of Doda and Kishtwar.
Congress MLA raised the demand for setting up of Chenab Valley Hill Development Council for the better development of the three districts- Kishtwar, Doda and Ramban.
In responding to Saroori’s demand Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed categorically ruled out setting up of Chenab Valley Hill Development Council but announced setting up of exclusive Chenab Valley Development Fund (CVDF) for development and upliftment of the area and generate employment opportunities.
The MLA claimed that several roads and other projects were approved. They include sanctioning of Bhatyas-Akhyar Pura road under CRF at an estimate of Rs 5 crores, Rs 50 lakhs sanctioned for completion of High School buildings at Kencha, Jakyas, Dagroon and Tanta. All ReT panels which are pending in the Directorate office of Education will be approve by the Director within a time bound manner.
The Kandi Canal work which was abandoned by the contractor, will be taken up by Irrigation Department. The two bridges were sanctioned at the cost of Rs 80 lakhs over Sigdi Nalla Chatroo. Rs 1.50 crores were sanctioned for the construction of washed up portion of Circular road Chatroo. The decision was taken for the construction of Model Higher Secondary Chatroo, Rs 50 lakhs for PHC Rahal Thal Mugalmaidan and Rs 40 lakhs for PHC Nali Bunjwah.
Saroori also raised the demands including the completion of work on various high schools of Inderwal constituency, start work on Government Degree Colleges at Chatroo and Thathri, regularization of ReT teachers, filling up of posts of lecturers, masters and teachers which are lying vacant, improve power infrastructure and supply position, early resumption of work on Rattle Hydroelectric project Drabshalla, RGGVY phase- II etc.
