1 killed, 4 others of a family injured in land dispute

UDHAMPUR, July 6: Following death of one person and injuries to his three sons as well as a brother in a land dispute at Dayalipa under the jurisdiction of Kud Police Station, family members of the deceased staged a strong protest on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and blocked the road, here this evening.
According to police, a land dispute between two families in Kud area turned into a bloody clash resulting into injuries of five persons of a family. The victims were shifted to District Hospital Udhampur where one of them succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Rashid (58) son of Mohd Yousuf of Dayalipa. The injured were identified as Kabir (24) son of Abdul Rashid, Mohd Rashid (19) son of Abdul Rahid, Bibi son of Abdul Rashid and Altaf Din (57), son of Mohd Yousuf.
After dead body of the deceased was handed over to the family members, the latter staged a strong protest demonstration on the National Highway. They put the dead body on road at Jakhani Chowk and blocked the highway shouting slogans and demanding immediate arrest of all the members of the other family, involved in the attack.
They alleged that police was hand in glove with the attackers and therefore no action was being taken against the accused. Later SP Udhampur Mohan Lal Kaith reached the spot and pacified the agitators by assuring the arrest of the attackers.
