One commits suicide, five others make abortive attempts

JAMMU, July 6: A 22-year old youth ended his life while five other make abortive attempts on their lives by consuming poisonous substances at their respective residences in city outskirts.
According to a police spokesperson, 22-year-old Vicky Kumar son of Subhash Chander, a resident of Chandu Chak (RS Pura), had allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at his residence on July 5 following which he was rushed to a nearby hospital in RS Pura. Later, on the same day he was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where he expired this afternoon about 2 pm.
The body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary room of the hospital for conducting post mortem tomorrow. The concerned police has taken cognizance.
An 18 years old girl namely Priya (18) daughter of Jagir Dass, a resident of SOS Home at Gole Gujral, also allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at SOS Home, following which she was shifted to GMCH, Jammu.
Similarly, four other persons namely Naseeba Bibi (25) wife of Mushtaq Ahmed, a resident of Bajalta, Krishna (35) wife of Sarvan Kumar, a resident of RS Pura, Preeti (20) wife of Shakti Singh, a resident of Arnia and Raj Kumar (25) son of Mohan Lal, a resident of RS Pura, allegedly tried to end their lives by consuming some poisonous substances at their respective residences. All the four were shifted to GMCH for treatment.
In all cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance.
