JAMMU, July 8: LIC employees lambasted the LIC Management and Government of India for their irresponsive attitude towards their demand of ‘wage revision’ even after a period of three years after the wage revision fell due on August 1, 2012, by holding massive demonstrations in lunch recess today in all the 19 offices of LIC of India in the State, as a part of joint call of all classes of employees at All India Level.
The programme at Jammu was held outside DO Cell Jammu and jointly led by Pawan Gupta, divisional secretary, NZIEA, Srinagar Division, Narinder Sharma, divisional secretary, LIC Class-1 Federation, and Ramesh Kumar of NOINO.
The leaders said that the joint forum of unions in LIC, reacting on the appeal of the Management to call off the proposed strike, acted in appositive way believing the Management that it will take up our demands seriously with the Government, and consequently deferred the proposed strike on July 8. And the call was given to hold massive demonstrations outside LIC offices all over India during lunch recess. Also memorandums were submitted to in charge of all the eight Zones to fulfill the demands of the employees i.e. early and satisfactory settlement of wage revision and giving one more option of pension scheme 1995 to left out employees.
The agitational programme of LIC employees had commenced on June 17 with massive demonstrations followed by demonstrations on June 24 and then badge wearing and demonstrations on July 1.
