Fresh batch of 1,885 pilgrims leaves for Amarnath from Jammu

JAMMU: A fresh batch of 1,885 pilgrims today left for the Holy Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas base camp here.
“A batch of 1885 pilgrims comprising 1494 male, 262 female, 29 children, 97 sadhus and three sadhvis left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 53 vehicles,” a police spokesperson here said.
He said the vehicles included 41 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses and 12 Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).     The first bus left at 0443 hrs while the last bus left at 0510 hrs amid tight security arrangements.
The yatra was halted at Tomato Morh near Kud in Udhampur district in view of heavy rains. (AGENCIES)
