EDLWU demands compensation for family of deceased lineman

JAMMU, July 9: All J&K Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union (EDLWU) today demanded the Government to pay compensation to the tune of Rs 10 lakh to the family of Sham Lal, a lineman, who lost his life while repairing the HT Line at Industrial Estate Phase -1, Samba, on July 2.
The Union said that the as the deceased Lineman was the only earning hand of the family, the Government should immediately grant a compensation of about Rs 10 lakh in favour of the family within a period of 15 days.
The Union also appealed all the Linemen SBA, Line Elector and other workers not to do work on the HT/LT Lines till there is complete shut down from the main stations. It was also appealed to them not to work on the regular department shut down at their own.
Meanwhile, the union members including chairman, Vijay Gupta, president, Jammu province, Tara Chand, president, J&K, Suresh Anthal and other office bearers visited the house of the deceased Lineman and expressed their sympathy with the family members.
