JAMMU, July 11: A team of officers of Legal Metrology today conducted extensive market checking across Jammu city and booked 11 traders for less weighing.
The team comprising inspector Akhnoor & Jammu upper conducted extensive checking of chicken, meat ,bakery & sweets shops in Talab Tillo, Puran Nagar, Poonch house, New plot, Amokalla & Sarwal areas.
More than 40 establishments were checked and during inspection it was found that 6 mutton and chicken sellers were charging more than the prices fixed by the Government and booked them for less weighing.
The team also booked 3 kiryana shop owners for using defective weighing instruments thereby causing loss to the consumers.
The members of the team acted as customers and trapped a sweet seller who was selling 140 g less sweets to consumers against 1 kg weight. The case was booked under the relevant provisions of law. A scrap dealer was also booked for using unverified instruments.
