Separatists unite at Iftar Party, threaten agitation

SRINAGAR, July 11:  The moderate Hurriyat Conference chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chairman today attended the Iftar party hosted by hardline Hurriyat Conference chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and threatened agitation against Government’s policy of “harassment” of people.
This is for the first time since the breakup of Hurriyat Conference in 2003 that the leaders came together.  An Iftar party was held at the residence of Geelani and was attended by several separatist leaders.
A unanimous resolution was passed at the Iftar party in which it was stated that the policies of the BJP, RSS, VHP and Congress will be unitedly fought by the separatist leadership.
The resolution said since the PDP BJP coalition assumed office in Jammu and Kashmir, the State has witnessed numerous incidents of human rights violation with killings, harassment, crackdowns becoming an order of the day.
The resolution mentioned that the graph of human rights violation has touched new heights with the unknown gunmen killing people and teenage boys being detained without any ground.
The resolution stated if such incidents are not stopped immediately the Hurriyat leadership will ask people to take to streets and protest. The resolution stated that a long term agitation will be launched against Mufti Government’s RSS agenda.
