SRINAGAR, July 12: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, today paid rich tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931, describing them as brave heroes who laid down their lives against suppression and autocracy.
In a message on the eve of Martyrs Day, the Chief Minister said the sacrifice of the martyrs to free the society from autocracy and lay foundation for democracy and human dignity is one of the greatest chapters in the annals of history of Jammu & Kashmir.
“The greatest homage one can pay to the martyrs is to rise above self and help in creating a tolerant society where everyone can grow in a free democratic atmosphere. Let us all come together to develop a virtuous society which is just and guided by principles of secular democratic temperament,” he said, while emphasizing upon respect for each other’s perspective, which is the essence of a democratic system.
Mufti Sayeed also prayed for peace, progress and development of J&K.
National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah also paid rich tributes to the valiant martyrs of July 13, 1931 describing them as timeless, inspirational heroes in our struggle against suppression, tyranny and autocracy.
In a message on the eve of Martyrs’ Day, the NC Working President said the sacrifices of the martyrs to free our society and State from autocracy and to lay the edifice for democracy is one of the richest chapters in the history of Jammu and Kashmir.
“The best way to pay homage to the July 13 Martyrs is to take a pledge to safeguard the State from the nefarious designs of certain political parties and entities to launch an assault on Article 370 and the State’s Special Status. This pledge is not a partisan pledge but one that every proud citizen of the State has to take to protect the State’s honor and dignity at all costs”, Omar Abdullah said.
