We made it in Wimbledon

We have reason to be overjoyed by outstanding performance of our tennis players at Wimbledon this week. Leander Paes, Sania Mirza and Sumit Nagal were the star performers for India. Paes at 42 remains as much passionate for the game as he has been. Sania Mirza had not the luck in singles but with extraordinary grit and determination she made the Grand Slam. It is amusing that in Grand Slam India has been performing well while in singles she didn’t have the luck. Some experts have commented that Indian require much more “physicality” to compete in modern tennis and that they shall have to take part in more international competition to brace up their physical prowess.
The belief with tennis specialists is that doubles are easier because a player has to cover only one half of the court while in singles he has to cove the entire court. Naturally covering the entire court means that the players should have extraordinary physicality. We are sure that our players can develop that physicality. Provided proper support and encouragement is there. We congratulate these players as they have brought honour to the country and will be inspiring future generation of sportspersons. Our youth have no lack of talent. They are capable of winning laurels but of course we need proper direction. Catch them young is the slogan in sports. It is from school going age that we should pick up the talent and train them by providing them all facilities, like scholarship, training and urge for playing competitions.
