Hurriyat to boycott Pak Eid Milan

SRINAGAR, July 14: A Hurriyat Conference faction headed by Syed Ali Shah Geelani  today announced boycott of Eid Milan party which is being hosted by Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi on June 21.
The spokesman of the faction said that the decision to boycott the party was taken in a discussion of the amalgam. The reason cited by the faction is skipping of Kashmir issue in the recent meeting between the Premiers of India and Pakistan at Russian city of Ufa.
“The skipping of Kashmir in the recent India, Pakistan meeting is disappointing and as a symbolic protest, Hurriyat is boycotting the Eid Milan party,” the Hurriyat spokesman said.
Hurriyat said since the BJP Government came into power, India is “continuously trying to thrust a ‘Minus Kashmir’ agenda with Pakistan and the recently held high level meeting between the two nations where Kashmir issue was not mentioned reflects this notion that India has succeeded in making their point and in place of precious and countless sacrifices of the Kashmiri people, the smile of Narendra Modi was given preference”.
“It is a very painful act and every Kashmiri felt its pain,” the amalgam said, adding: “although the Pakistan has been supporting the right to self determination of Kashmiris from 1947 but the lack of a permanent and stable policy on diplomatic level sometimes wash away everything and the apologetic approach unwillingly damage the Kashmir cause severely.”
