Srinagar : “A former Police officer was shot dead in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district at around midnight while he was returning home after offering prayers at a local Mosque”. Police said here.
Police said militants fired at Bashir Ahmad Dar, a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police and critically injured him at village Ashmujee in Kulgam district.
The former DSP was left in a pool of blood with multiple injuries in the attack by mortar cyclist borne militants who fled under the cover of darkness.
The injured former officer and was removed to the Srinagar for treatment but he died on way to hospital.
The attack on the retired police officer came hours after a panch (local counselor), Mohammad Yaqoob Malla, was shot at and injured by gunmen in the neighboring Shopian district.
