Fresh batch of 2,415 pilgrims leaves from Jammu

JAMMU:A fresh batch of 2,415 pilgrims today left for the Holy Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp here.
The yatra from Jammu remained suspended for two consecutive days in view of closed national highway due to landslides triggered by rains and resumed yesterday.
“A batch of 2,415 pilgrims comprising 1705 males, 561 females, 52 children, 92 sadhus and five sadhvis left for the cave shrine in a fleet of 60 vehicles,” a police spokesperson said.
He said that the vehicles included 51 State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) buses and nine Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs).
The first bus left at 0447 hrs while the last bus left at 0530 hrs amid tight security arrangements. The yatra is moving smoothly on the highway except one of the buses, which suffered a technical snag near Manthal in Udhampur district and being replaced with fresh vehicle, he added. (UNI)
