REASI, July 15: Agitated over not getting PDS ration at the dealer’s outlet, locals of Chasana and adjoining areas held a strong protest demonstration, here today at Chasana.
The protesting people raised slogans against the CAPD Department and demanded action against the concerned authorities as well as the dealer.
They said that poor villagers from far flung areas like Shakari, Dubri, Tulli Banna, Bagodass, Dewal, Dulabgarh, Barensal, Neoch Larh etc had to travel throughout the day to get ration from road side illegal stores whereas the Government was giving about Rs 600 per quintal carriage charges for distribution of ration in these areas.
The villagers alleged that concerned CAPD officials were drawing huge amount in the name of carriage charges but not delivering ration at the fixed site.
Later, on the intervention of Police, the villagers were pacified and explained that the ration was being distributed at the roadside stores because of transportation problem due to bad condition of the road.
