JAMMU, July 17: A migrant worker allegedly attempted suicide by stabbing himself with a glass bottle at Bus Stand, here today.
According to a police spokesperson, a man identified as Arjun (27) son of Banao Ram, a resident of Jalpai Gudi (Bengal), who was among five other migrant workers who had reached here at Bus Stand and had to leave for Srinagar for labour work, suddenly picked up an empty bottle of cold drink kept outside a shop, broke it and stabbed himself.
The whole episode occurred at about 8 pm tonight. On getting information, a police team led by SHO Bus Stand, Paramjeet Singh reached the spot and shifted the victim in critical condition to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment.
The SHO said the way the victim was talking; it appeared that he had some psychiatric problem due to which he took such an extreme step.
“The victim was in critical condition and was under doctors’ observation till the last reports came in”, he said adding they have registered a case under relevant sections in this connection.
