JAMMU, July 19: A 35-years old man today committed suicide at his residence in Kunjwani area of city outskirts while three persons including a young girl made abortive bids on their lives by consuming some poisonous substance at their respective residences in city and its outskirts.
According to police sources, a married man identified as Makhan Lal son of Charn Lal, a resident of Chak Majra in RS Pura (at present residing at Kunjwani in Jammu) allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance at his temporary residence during the intervening night of July 18 and 19.
When noticed in the morning, the family members informed the police which reached the spot and shifted the dead body to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, where after conducting post mortem it was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
The police said as no suicide note was found from the spot, they have registered a case under relevant sections and started investigations.
Meanwhile, a 29-year-old girl namely Deep Kour daughter of Jaswant Kour, a resident of Sector No 3, Trikuta Nagar, a 26-year-old youth namely Sanjay Kumar son of Mani Ram, a resident of Kot Bhalwal and Chandan Kumar (28), son of Gujar Lal, a resident of Bihar (at present Rajpura) made abortive attempts on their lives by consuming some poisonous substance at their respective residences. All of them were rushed to GMCH, Jammu for treatment.
The condition of all the three persons was stated to be stable till the last reports came in. In all three cases, the concerned police have taken cognizance of the matter.
