Utilize IT tools to develop modern techniques of teaching: Minister

JAMMU, July 24: Two day National Workshop on E-content Development and Management concluded today at Government Women College, Gandhi Nagar.
Minister of State for Education, Information and Culture Priya Sethi was chief guest at the concluding function.
Speaking at the event, the Minister highlighted the role of E-content development in the field of teaching and learning. She stressed on utilizing tools of IT and E-learning for devising new techniques of teaching and called upon the faculty to avail maximum benefits from seminars by fine tuning teaching techniques which are the modern day requirements of education.
She said the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Digital India can be made possible by effectively utilizing the modern day tools of E-learning, adding that essential condition for digital pedagogy is access to high quality culturally relevant content in digital format.
Underlining the need to adopt new techniques in teaching, Priya said the Information Technology has changed the ways of teaching and the concept of classroom has grown beyond the four walls of traditional classroom. She said with the help of IT teachers can extend the boundaries of classroom and similarly the students can have access to knowledge from all across the globe.
She said Information and Communication Technology (ICT) tools can go a long way in addressing the requirements of modern education and all out efforts should be made to ensure that teaching faculty gets abreast with these tools.
Prof. Dilip P. Barad, HOD English, Bhavnagar University, Dr. Mahesh N. Jivani, Associate Professor, Department of Electronics Science, Saurashtra University were resource persons and Dr. Jyoti Mahajan, Assistant Professor, GCET was observer at the workshop.
Principal, GCW, Gandhi Nagar Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Prof Amit Pal Kour, Dr. Anupama Gupta, college faculty and staff of the college was present at the function.
