Shutdown against ISIS flag burning

Srinagar, July 25: A shutdown was observed in Kashmir valley today against the burning of Islamic State (IS) flag in Rajouri district.
The shutdown affected the normal life in the region with most of the shops, business establishments, petrol pumps, schools and colleges shut. The public transport was also minimal while as the private transport was plying normally. The Government offices and banks witnessed thin attendance due to non-availability of transport.
The day passed off peacefully in the city with no report of stone-throwing or demonstration. The situation in volatile downtown was also peaceful.
The shutdown was also observed in other parts of the region. The call for strike was given by a Kashmir-based business amalgam and was supported by separatist leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik.
