Judicial Academy organizes training prog for Sessions Judges, CJMs

JAMMU, July 26: Under the guidance and patronage of Chief Patron of State Judicial Academy, Justice N. Paul Vasanthakumar, Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and  Committee of Judges, State Judicial Academy (Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, Chairman and Justice Hasnain Massodi, Member), State Judicial Academy today organized one day special training programme on “Relevance of Forensic Science in Civil and Criminal Trials and Relevance of Medico-Legal Evidence in Criminal Cases” for Sessions Judges and Chief Judicial Magistrates of Jammu province.
Reputed Forensic Experts, Dr. TSN Murthy, GVHV Prasad and Prof. M. Narayana Reddy, from Truth Labs., Hyderabad were the Resource persons. The programme was conducted by Pawan Dev Kotwal, Director, State Judicial Academy.
Dr Murthy, Director, Truth Labs deliberated on the topic “Relevance of Forensic Science in Criminal & Civil trials, Principles of Forensic Analysis, Finger Prints, Audio Video Forensics” at length. He said that in every crime, criminal leaves his traces and trails after committing the crime and when the direct evidence is hard to locate, here comes the role of forensic science as the forensic science evolved fully. The advances in technology brought new dimensions to the Crimes known as ‘Çyber Crimes’.
2nd session was conducted by Prasad, Director, Truth Labs on the topic “Questioned Documents & Cyber Forensics in civil trials with case studies”. He enlightened the participants the relevance of handwriting expert. He explained the methods of examination and possibility of errors.
Prof. M. Narayana Reddy dealt with topic “Relevance of Medico-Legal Evidence in Criminal trials with case studies” in the 3rd session. He explained in-depth autopsy process and viscera examinations and last session  was on the topic “Forensic Ballistics & DNA in Criminal & Civil trials” jointly dealt by Dr. Murthi and Mr. Parsad. They explained various fire-arms and their characteristics and classifications. The relevance of DNA examinations both in civil and criminal cases was explained in detail by the experts. The sessions were also followed by case studies.
The participating officers raised many queries which were replied and clarified by the Resource persons.
