Over 3600 perform darshan at holy cave

JAMMU, July 28: On the 27th day of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji yatra 3,673 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave today. With this the total number of pilgrims paying obeisance at cave shrine since the first batch of pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas here on July 1 has touched 3,03,994.
According to an official spokesman 938 yatris left from Baltal Base Camp to holy cave today while 548 left by chopper. Besides, 2097 pilgrims left from Nunwan Pahalgam Base Camp via traditional Chandanwari track for holy cave early this morning.
He said the yatris having night halt at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarni also started their ongoing journey this morning towards holy cave.
He said 530 yatris returned by chopper from cave shrine today after performing darshan. There has been a considerable fall in yatra from Baltal side due to cloudbursts and road blockades during last two weeks and only 186 yatris came from Srinagar to Baltal today while prior to the bad weather conditions daily over 5000 pilgrims were coming from Srinagar to Baltal, he added.
The spokesman said the weather on both the tracks was cloudy today but the yatra proceeded smoothly. He said the Baltal-Srinagar road is also through for two way traffic.
Meanwhile, a fresh batch of 337 yatris left the Bhagwati Nagar Jammu Yatri Niwas for holy cave under tight security arrangements early this morning in a cavalcade of 10 vehicles.
