SRINAGAR, July 29: After terming the appointments made by its former Vice Chairman (VC) illegal, the incumbent VC of Jammu Kashmir Wakf Board has referred the case of recently appointed employees to Law Department.
As reported earlier by the Excelsior, the VC, Peer Muhammad Hussain, has termed the orders and appointments by his predecessor, MY Qadri, illegal and invalid. The appointments include those of clinical instructors. The clinical instructors who joined the Bibi Halima College in March this year have been “verbally terminated” by the VC and their salaries have not been paid since their joining leaving them in lurch.
The VC Wakf told Excelsior that he has written to the Law Department about the clinical instructors. “I am expecting the reply of Law Department by tomorrow,” the VC Wakf said, adding: “It won’t take much time and I am sure the issue would be sorted out.”
Meanwhile, the clinical instructors said that if Law Department “fails to deliver them justice” then they will explore new options including court. “Our salaries should be released and we should be also allowed to re-join our duties,” the Clinical Instructors said.
The former Wakf VC, Muhammad Yaseen Qadri, told Excelsior that during his tenure he had issued the advertisement for posts of Clinical Instructors and Lecturers as well as conducted interviews. “But, I have no idea why the current VC is terming them illegal,” he said. It must be mentioned here that the term of Qadri ended in February 2014 and he was given “verbal” extension by former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah till December 23, 2014.
