Army extends helping hand to students of KGB Vidyalaya

SRINAGAR, July 29: Following the road map of Central Govt initiative ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ campaign, Army’s 44 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) conducted a noble programme to provide assistance to destitute girls of KGB Vidyalaya Girls Hostel in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A defence spokesman said to create awareness between different stakeholder and community of Valley, 44 RR under aegis of Chinar Corps organized a programme to assist the girls belonging to economically backward families at DIET Shopian.
“The Commander of 12 Sector RR, Brigadier K Venugopal, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Ghulam Muhammad Dar, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Shopian, Mohammad Sadiq and principal DIET Shopian were invited to present their thoughts on the importance of girls education to the local populace of Shopian,” the spokesman said.
The spokesman further said: “Army has always full heartedly extended the administrative, educational and counselling support to the girls of Shopian. Monetary assistance by Lt Gen Subrata Saha, during the Milan programme ‘Aman aur Awaam’ on February 7 this year was also utilized for providing assistance in this event. Gifts, Blankets and utensils for kitchen were distributed to the girls during the programme.”
“We all need to work together to uplift and educate girl child,” said Colonel RS Bazad, Commanding Officer, 44 Rashtriya Rifles.
At the conclusion of the programme, Chief Guest Brig K Venugopal, distributed gifts and said that Army is always there for all the efforts required for the upliftment of girl child in the society and also emphasized that educating the girls should be the top most priority for the growth of a society, the spokesman added.
