SMVDU faculty attends Intl Conference in USA

JAMMU, July 29: Dr Sharada M Potukuchi, Associate Professor, School of Biotechnology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, participated in sixth Gordon Research Conference on Plant Metabolic Engineering at Waterville Valley, Hew Hampshire, USA.
The theme of the Conference this year was “Harnessing Plant Metabolism for the Bio-Based Economy”.
Dr Sharada was the only participant from India that attended this international conference and presented a paper entitled: “Production of Bacosides from Shoot Cultures of Bacopa monnieri (L) Cultured in Growtek and Air Lift Bioreactor” jointly authored by her PhD scholar, Dr Munish Sharma and Dr Ashok Ahuja, Ex-Chief Scientist, Indian Institute of Integrative Medicine, Jammu.
Her work on standardization of a procedure for biomass generation and production of valuable photochemical was well appreciated by all the participants of the Conference.
More than one hundred delegates from various countries deliberated and took part in the Conference.
During her visit, Dr Sharada also had an opportunity to visit and interact with Scientists and Faculty members of Fermi Lab, Naperville and Morton Arboretum, Chicago in connection with developing collaborations for future research projects.
