Srinagar, July 30: Two day annual festival at the revered shrine of Mata Jwala Ji in south Kashmir’s Khrew area of Pampore concluded today with the participation of hundreds of devotees.
The devotees, mainly Kashmiri Pandits, who had come from various parts of the State and country participated in the Havan Puja and sought the blessings of Mata Jwala Ji. The festival holds significant importance for the Kashmiri Pandits.
The people from majority community open heartedly welcomed the devotees and made all possible arrangements for their convenience. Despite shutdown called in Khrew against the cement factories, the locals did not shut their shops in the vicinity of the shrine and also kept the facility of transport available for the devotees. The organizers said that the local administration had also made arrangements for the smooth conduct of the annual festival.
A Mahayagya was also organized today and the devotees were served with ‘Prasad’.
Last year, the shrine was gutted in a fire incident on December 13. The president of Jwala Ji Samiti, MK Raina, has appealed Government to help in reconstruction of the shrine as has been done in shrines which met same fate.
