JAMMU, July 30: Reiterating that establishing AIIMS in Jammu as well as in Kashmir would lead to enhancement of medical health facilities in both the regions, the Education Minister and spokesman of the PDP-BJP coalition Government has appreciated the Centre’s decision of treating J&K State as a special case.
Reacting to the Union Health Minister J P Nadda’s announcement of providing similar facilities of AIIMS in both Jammu and Kashmir regions, Naeem Akhter appreciated the Centre for understanding requirements as well as regional aspiration of people of the State.
“This was a necessity in view of topography and political sensibility of this State where health facilities will now improve as one of the best in country following establishment of AIIMS,” he said and added that the State should utilize its resources upto maximum for benefit of common people.
It may be recalled that Naeem Akhter on last Tuesday had openly supported the demand for two AIIMS in State; one in Kashmir and other in Jammu, keeping in view regional aspirations as well as topographical compulsions of the State. He had said that it was difficult for patients of one region to easily move to other region for medical treatment because of topography.
