JAMMU, July 31: Dr Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Professor School of Biotechnology, SMVDU, has been awarded Young Scientist’s Award grant from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.
The start-up grant has been awarded in the field of Life Sciences for Breast Cancer Research.
Dr Rakesh Kumar joined as Assistant Professor at SMVDU in December 2012. He has done his Ph D from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi and is Post doctorate from Washington University School of Medicine, St Louis MO, USA and University of Texas Southwestern Medical Centre Dallas USA. He has published more than 40 Research papers in peer-reviewed journals which include journals like Nature and PNAS. His group’s current research interests are in mechanistic elucidations of different cancers and DNA damage in Northern region of India, particularly Jammu and Kashmir.
