KATHUA, July 31: Police today arrested two persons with 10 bags of bhukki (Poppy straw) at Hiranagar.
According to a police spokesperson on a specific input Hiranagar police laid a naka at Hiranagar and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03-0405. During thorough checking about 10 bags of Poppy straw were found hidden in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehcile namely Zakir Hussain son of Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Kokernag, Anantnag (at present Railway Station Hiranagar) and his associate namely Jabbar Hussain son of Rashid Ahmed, a resident of Keshwan, Anantnag (at present Reasi) were arrested on spot and the vehicle seized.
In this connection, a case under NDPS Act stands registered at police station Hiranagar.
The arrests and recovery were made by a police team of police station Hiranagar led by SHO Sarabjeet Singh and DSP Diwakar Singh.
