Soach Manae Di is the second book authored by Dr. Chanchal Sharma which is a collection of essays on some prominent and contemporary literary persons of Duggar Pradesh. Dr. Chanchal has written the life and works of three established writers like: Gianeshwar Sharma , Dr. Gian Singh and Pradhuman Singh as well as three women writers Krishna Prem, Nirmal Vikram and Neelam Sareen in addition to budding Dogri poets like Kuldeep ‘Kippi’, Yash Nirmal and Randhir Singh ‘Raipuria’.
She depicts social, cultural formal and personal experience of these literary figure in and substance. Every article is very interesting, informative for a reader and research scholars also.
In these essays, selection of words and sentences are fairly to the mark. This proved that Dr. Chanchel has done her work very keenly and interestingly to complete her Soach Manae Di.
Recently, this Dogri book of essays was released at a well-attended and impressive function held at K.L.Sehgal Hall, in the Cultural Academy , complex, Jammu.
The book under review Soach Manae Di is the second book of Dr. Chanchal while the first was Man Aakhda ( a collection of Dogri poetry). As she is holding Master degree in music her poetic composition are marked by imagination and fine tunes.

(The poet wishes to fly high into the sky and shower happiness and kindness on the mankind). Readers may note the high flight of imagination, deep emotions and musical quality of the verses.
Facing the odds of life, she has done doctorate in Dogri literature under supervision of Prof. Veena Gupta , former Head of Dogri Department . She also holds Masters’ in Music and Hindi from Jammu University besides completing a PG Course in Journalism and Mass Communication . She said : ” Prof Veena Gupta is very knowledgeable, intelligent and inspiring.” Dr. Chanchal is also associated with Doordarshan and Radio Station. In her brief career, she has won some recognition and prizes.
Dogri Writers Highlighted
Dr. Chanchal has done well to highlight the literary style and works of some noted Dogri writers like Gianeshwar Sharma , Pradhuman Singh ‘Jindrahia’ and Dr. Gian Singh who have made rich contribution to the Dogri language and its literature. While first two are recipients of Sahitya Akedemi Awards, the third one Dr. Gian Singh , also a noted writer has superannuated from J&K State Cultural Academy. It is praiseworthy that she has penned lines about the upcoming stars on the Dogri horizon and given them a new road-map in the literary journey. While she has evaluated the achievements of some established writers, she has put wise words for the new generation of writers.
Absorbing Reading
The 112-page book Soach Manae Di , makes interesting and informative reading. She has put words of gratefulness to her inspiring mother, Pushpa Sharma and support from younger brother , Sanjeev Sharma . Dr.Savita Bakshi, former Additional Secretary of J&K Cultural Academy has written Foreword and put a good word for the writings of Dr. Chanchal Sharma on some contemporary Dogri poets and writers. The colourful title of this book is at once meaningful and impressive.
Its printing and overall production is of good quality. Though it has been priced at a bit higher side, the literary merit will make this book essential reading material for the Dogri literature. It is expected that Soach Manea Di will be certainly read by large number of readership, received by the literary circles and the libraries will keep it on their book shelves. Certainly, the publisher of this book has done a service to the Dogri language and literature.
