POONCH, Aug 1: The residents of village Kulani in Tehsil Mandi of the district today expressed their anguish over the discrimination with them by State Government as well as district administration and sought help of the State Government to raise a crate in the area to prevent the village from further flood.
Due to heavy flesh floods and landslides during the month of September 2014, village Kulani was on the top of worst affected villages of Tehsil Mandi as more than 95% of their property was completely washed away besides great loss to their houses.
The residents alleged that even after lapse of more than 10 months, the State Government as well as district administration have been totally non-serious about this village. “Many times our elected MPs and MLAs visited here and assured us to bring this village in “flood prone” zone and make all possible arrangements on priority to prevent the village from further loss”, they said and regretted that no such arrangements could be made till date.
They said now people of the village themselves have come out to protect the village from further loss by raising a crate but this is not possible without the help of the State Government. “Therefore, we appeal the State Government to come to our help in raising this crate”, they asserted.
