Computerised gates likely to be installed at entry, exit gates of Taj Mahal

AGRA, Aug 2: Union Government is considering to install computerised entry and exit gates similar to the Metro stations at the historcial Taj Mahal.
The Culture Ministry, is set to submit a report to the Union Minister Mahesh Sharma, who will take a final decision, sources here today said.
A Chennai-based company yesterday gave the demonstration of the equipment which will scan the QR code printed on the e-ticket before allowing a tourist to enter the monument.
”There are three gates at Taj, and turnstile gates will be required to be installed in requisite numbers at all of them so that tourists are not required in queues for long hours,” said a senior ASI official. The private company had given a similar demonstration at Red Fort in Delhi last week, the official added.
The plan of installing turnstile gate was mooted in March this year, after e-ticketing facility was launched at the monument in December 2014.  (PTI)
