KATHUA, Aug 2: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Kumar Singh today said the Government is keen to harness the untapped tourism potential of the areas having heritage sites, historical shrines and beautiful landscapes to attract tourists.
Speaking at a public grievances redressal camp at Ramkot in Billawar today, Dr Singh said Ramkot has a great historical importance as it was a hub of economic activities during Dogra rule. He said it is earnest effort of present Government to preserve heritage assets for future generations.
Dr Singh directed the Tourism Department to take up the area of ‘Raje Ki Mandi’ and ‘Pond’ under tourism promotion asking them to submit DPR in this regard.
Responding to the demand of uninterrupted power supply, Dr Singh appealed people to make judicious use of electricity and discourage the use of incandescent bulbs and heaters rather use power saving electric gadgets. He asked the officers to educate the people about the importance of judicious use of electricity besides telling them the reasons of power shortage like unauthorized connections and other power pilferage activities.
He disclosed that the flagship scheme of Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna will be launched in the state soon under which rural electrification of uncovered areas will be taken up.
Earlier, the Deputy Chief Minister interacted with the representatives of Ramkote, Kah-Kashed, Amwala, Gujjroo Nagrota, Galak and adjoining areas who apprised him of their problems and demands which inter alia include Degree College and Dugwell at Ramkot, upgradation of Public Health Centre Ramkot, repair of Circular Road and construction of Cremation Ground, electric poles, road connectivity, veterinary hospital and Community Hall.
Dr Singh, while responding to the demands of the people, said all these issues will be taken up on priority basis. He directed the concerned departments to take immediate steps to redress the problems of the people in a time bound manner.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that the local Government Higher Secondary School is being adopted by him to develop it as a Model School with the provision of Smart Classroom. He said under the project three additional rooms will be constructed and school will be equipped with a modern Laboratory.
Regarding the demand of notifying municipalities in Ramkot and Bhaddu, Dr Singh directed SDM and Tehsildar to submit the proposal in this regard.
Later, Dr Singh held a public grievances camp at Thada Kalyal and took stock of people’s problems.
The people of Panchayat Sialana, Thaintu, Gurha Kalyal, Agli Dhar, Uchha Pind met the Deputy Chief Minister and apprised him of their problems and demands.
The inhabitants of these areas projected various demands and problems including better road connectivity, problem of low voltage, black topping of Gurha to Bharota, shortage of staff at Primary Health Centre Uchha Pind, construction of overhead tanks at Thada Kalyal and Dhed Badoli besides upgradation of Middle School to High School level under RMSA.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers to take up and address the problems of the people on priority.
