Sahitya Akademi organizes “Katha-Sandhi,” “People & Books”

JAMMU, Aug 2: Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi organized two of  its prestigious programmes at Dogri Bhawan Karan Nagar Jammu. The programme “Katha-Sandhi” was held with renowned Dogri short story writer Shivdev Susheel, also a Sahitya Akademi awardee. The other programme was “People and Books” in which Hitbandhu Khajuria,a retired Chief Engineer was the speaker .
Shivdev Susheel spoke about his creative experiences and shared many of the intimate anecdotes with the audience. Healso read two of his latest short stories entitled ‘Graan da chauk’  and ‘Kamare ch Bandh Aadami’. The stories had a strong elements of social relevance and certain aspects of human psychology. A very interesting interaction took place between the audience and the writer.
Hitbandhu Khajuria, an Engineer by profession had many interesting aspects of life to share with the audience, when he spoke about his interest in books and literature and the influence which books had on his thinking and approach towards life. He shared that he was a close friend of Madan Mohan Sharma, one of the leading fiction writers of Dogri. Inspired by him Khajuria even tried his hand in writing a few short stories. He said that books have played a very significant role in shaping his personality and cited many interesting anecdotes in support of his statements.
Earlier, Prof Lalit Magotra while welcoming the audience introduced the programmes and the speakers and underlined the importance of such programmes in enriching not only the
literature but also the social life of the community as a whole. He also shared with the audience the schedule of the forthcoming programmes of the Sahitya Akademi in Jammu.
