SAMBA, Aug 2: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary, Manjit Singh, today strongly condemned arrest of former Ministers Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla and others who was leading a peaceful protest demonstration.
Speaking to media persons here at Vijaypur, Manjit Singh said that it was condemnable act that police on the directions of BJP ministers was not allowing peaceful demonstrations in Jammu.
“Sham Lal Sharma was taking out a peaceful protest when he was prevented by the police team and taken into custody which is highly condemnable,” said Singh, the former Minister.
He said that the administration and police have been working on the directions of BJP ministers and they are adopting all means to sabotage genuine agitation of people who have been seeking separate AIIMS for Jammu.
He said that movement would not die with such tactics adopted by the civil administration as well as police.
Reminding the BJP, he said, the AIIMS Coordination Committee had given them enough time to make announcement for separate AIIMS in Jammu but it was not done.
“Deputy CM Nirmal Singh and Forest Minister Bali Bhagat had handed over a written letter assuring that they would get separate AIIMS for Jammu but they failed and now trying to crush the ongoing movement of people,” he said.
Singh said that Congress party is committed to work for the people and support the movement of ACC. “BJP again trying to mislead people with false promises and assurances like they did prior to Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir,” he cautioned people.
Later, he condemned lathi charge on the protesters including advocates by the police.
