KATHUA, Aug 2: A villager and his wife died in an underground tank at their newly constructed house at village Dharankot in tehsil Billawar today.
A police spokesman said that one Pritam Chand entered his underground tank to clean it but after some time he got fainted and laid down there inside and fell unconscious. There was darkness inside and also some water. His wife – Shaino Devi got worried after he did not come out for long. She called her many times going near the tank but there was no response. Then she also got down into the tank and tried to pull her out but she also died due to suffocation.
Later, other people in the family came to know about the matter and they raised alarm. They called locals who,later informed police. Bother the bodies were removed from the tank. Billawar police registered a case under 174 CrPC and started investigation.
