POONCH, Aug 3: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Nissar Ahmed Wani initiated action against 23 employees including two Gazetted officers when he found them absent from duty during surprise visit to several Government offices here today.
Official spokesman said that Deputy Commissioner on the basis of public complaints, moved to the office of NDRF Poonch and found nine employees including an officer absent from duty. He seized the attendance register and inquired about the conduct and functioning of officials there.
Then he moved to the office of District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) office where he found all the five staff members including Project Officer absent from duty. He came to know that PO was not attending office for the last more than one week.
The DC when reached CDPO office Poonch, where he found the CDPO and five other employees absent from duty. In ICDS Project Office, Poonch the DC found three employees absent from duty.
Taking serious note of the habitual absenteeism increasing among the Govt officials, the DC stopped the salary of all these officers and sought their explanation. He also directed the concerned senior officers to charge-sheet these employees and recommend action as per law.
The DC warned other employees to ensure attendance in their respective offices otherwise strict action will be taken against them. He also directed senior officers at Mandi, Surankote and Mendhar to conduct surprise checking in schools and other offices and take action against absentee staff.
