SRINAGAR, Aug 3: Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today alleged that people from Kashmir and especially the youth, are distancing from Congress party till today due decisions of the party high command.
Reacting on the statement of a Congress leader, Vakil alleged that this new team of ‘some tainted and corrupt’ Congress leaders are scared of his popularity in the State and out of frustration they are issuing meaningless statements. He said such statements cannot deter him from his resolve to visit whole State and uproot Congress in the State especially from Kashmir valley. He made it clear that it is not now the Congress of Nehru, Indira or Rajiv Gandhi but a group of people who are tainted, corrupt and Ikhwanis.
The former Minister alleged that people in every nook and corner of the State know that present PCC president is a person who remained in jail for many months for being involved in infamous sex abuse case and a few of his close aides and associates who are PCC state office bearers had lost even their security deposits in the 2014 Assembly elections, especially from Kashmir valley while one of their vice presidents Mr Monga has created history by contesting one election in his entire political career in 2002 from Baramulla Assembly segment and got only 420 votes and then was awarded MLC post by Congress high command.
Mr Vakil said that record of Election Commission of India is available for the scrutiny of every one where from facts can be ascertained about who is popular leader and enjoys support of people in J&K.
The former Minister said that people of J&K know his contribution for the 40 years to the Congress party including contribution during turmoil of 25 years when nobody could dare to talk about Congress. He said that it is moral and political bankruptcy to be in Congress now that too, under tainted, corrupt people.
Mr Vakil alleged that decisions of Congress high command till today are responsible for distancing people from the mainstream especially youth from Kashmir valley. “ It is not only me but many leaders who were considered pillars of Congress were too, forced to leave the party after four decades. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Pt Mangat Ram Sharma, Lt Ghulam Rasool Kar and even late Abdul Gani Lone are glaring examples,” Vakil added.
