11 bovine animals rescued, 2 arrested

RAJOURI, Aug 5: The police seized 11 bovine animals  and arrested two smugglers in this connection in Thannamandi and Rajouri area early today.
A police spokesman said that as a part of drive against menace of bovine smuggling, Thannamandi police led by SHO, Insp Narinder Singh Chib under the supervision of SDPO Thannamandi   Iftqar Talib, today laid a naka at Churang bridge Thannamandi. During checking the police rescued four bovine animals  and arrested two bovine smugglers namely Mohd Ayoub, son of  Mohd Akbar, resident of Lah ( Darhal) and Abdul Hamid, son of Abdul Gani, resident of  Saaj village. They were on way to Kashmir via Mughal Road  on foot. They had to load these animals in a vehicle after crossing naka point to give slip to policemen.  The police registered a case FIR No. 105/2015 at Thannamandi Police Station.
Similarly, Rajouri police led by SHO Insp  Yashpaul Jamwal, under the supervision of DySP headquarters Rajouri,  Hamid Choudhary,   laid a naka on a specific information at  Kheora in Rajouri early today and rescued seven bovine animals. They were being  brought on-foot from Rajouri side for onward transportation to Srinagar via Mughal Road in some vehicle. The  unknown bovine smugglers left the animals and fled from the spot. A  case FIR No. 394/2015 U/S 188 RPC has been registered at Police Station, Rajouri and investigation started.
Intensifying its drive against bovine smugglers, Rajouri police registered 79 cases of bovine smuggling against  155 persons and seized  475 bovine animals and 45 vehicles during 2015 so far,  a police spokesman said.
