ISRO’s Antrix earned a profit of Rs 896 cr in last 5 yrs: Govt

NEW DELHI, Aug 6: ISRO has earned a profit of Rs 896 crore over the last five years through its commercial arm Antrix by virtue of various activities like launching of foreign satellites.
In a written response to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh, said all commercial activities of ISRO are managed by Antrix.
In 2010-2011, Antrix earned a total profit of Rs 138.86 crore, Rs 170.98 crore in 2011-12, Rs 177.07 in 2012-13, Rs 200.50 in 2013-14 and Rs 205.10 until now in 2014-15.
India has earned about 100 million USD launching 45 foreign satellites till date and revenue from its commercial space missions is poised to grow with another 28 foreign satellites planned to be put into orbit between 2015 and 2017. (PTI)
