JAMMU, Aug 19: An ex-servicemen rally was organised today at Sunderbani by 20 Punjab (Bahadur Bees) under the aegis of the Kalidhar Brigade.
The rally, which was attended by a large number of veterans and some Veer Naris, was inaugurated this morning by Kalidhar Brigade, Brigadier Ravin Khosla.
The rally was principally aimed at addressing relevant issues pertaining to health services for the veterans and to acquaint them with various schemes and plans for enhancing their quality of life, even after their superannuation.
Brig Khosla in his inaugural address reiterated the commitment of the Kalidhar Brigade towards supporting welfare schemes and measures for improvement of the quality of life and upliftment of the veterans and Veer Naris of the region.
The Director, Zila Sainik Welfare Organisation (ZSWO) and the SDM, Nowshera, were the other eminent speakers at the rally, who enlightened the veterans about various welfare schemes and programmes run for their benefit.
Expressing his views, Capt Surjeet Singh (retd) said, “We are grateful to Kalidhar Brigade for organising such a veteran’s rally every year, which provide a platform to veterans to come forth and convey various problems faced by them”.
Another veteran, Subedar Chunni lal said that this is the occasion where retired personnel like me get the opportunity to interact freely and openly with the senior army officials of the Sainik Welfare Board and put forth problems without any hesitation.
At the culmination of the rally, Brigadier Khosla felicitated the war veterans and Veer Naris and distributed gifts among them. He also interacted personally with the veterans and Veer Naris over a wholesome lunch.
