JAMMU, Aug 7: Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology and Social Welfare Bali Bhagat today visited Mishriwala and took stock of the situation arisen due to the recent heavy rains and floods.
The Minister asked the Executive Engineer PWD for early construction of new drains alongwith Mishriwala-Jhiri road. He also instructed the concerned authorities to make a comprehensive plan with DPR for upgradation of lanes and drains in Pakhain village and submit the same at the earliest.
Bali Bhagat also directed concerned Executive Engineer to clear and widen the culvert on the road to Jhiri area the blockage of which caused flood in the village. The Minister was informed that a detailed project for Rs. 30 lakh for upgradation of lanes and drains and Rs. 14 lakh for construction of culvert near Pakhain village has already been formulated and the work on the same would be started soon.
The Minister also visited Gurdwara near Mishriwala and took stock of the damage.
He also maintained that clear instruction has been passed to the departments of PHE, PDD, Health, R&B, Urban and Local Bodies to ensure that the people get requisite facilities of drinking water power, medicare, road connectivity and cleanliness. He said that Government is conscious of the difficulties of the people of rural and backward areas. He said that these areas are now given focused attention and many schemes have been devised to match their requirement and need.
