SRINAGAR:
Three people are being questioned for providing shelter to Usman Khan alias Naved, a Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) Pakistani militant arrested after a BSF convoy was attacked at Udhampur on Srinagar-Jammu national higway on August 5.
Two BSF personnel lost their lives and 13 others were injured in the attack while a militant was also gunned down. Though the police and civil authorities remained tight lipped, official sources said Investigation Agency (NIA) officials, who have joined the interrogation of Naved arrived here yesterday from Delhi by air. Naved has identified some people who had provided militants’ shelter before they travelled to Udhampur to carry out attack on BSF.
Sources said three people were picked up from south Kashmir district of Pulwama and are being questioned. “We cannot say whether they are involved or not as the truck number given by the arrested militants used by them to travelled to Udhampur proved wrong,” they said, adding that it was registration number of a scooter.
Sources could not confirm whether Naved was brought here as the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was closed due to landslides since last night. There was a proposal to bring the militant by road from Jammu to Srinagar, they said.
