RAJOURI, Aug 9: Alleging that due to absence of VC of Pahari Advisory Board (PAB), a lot of irregularities and fraud in the distribution of scholarship to Pahari students have been committed and the sanctioned amount looted by agents deputed by the Board, JKPPM leaders demanded immediate filling of the post.
The issue came up for discussion during one day delegate session held at Rajouri. While speaking on the occasion, JKPPM leaders, Gulshan Kumar and Shahrukh Mir, pointed out that Pahari hostels have become hub of corruption where funds amounting to crores of rupees have been fraudulently looted by some agents deputed by Pahari Advisory Board and there is no check on the students who have indulged themselves in anti social activities, due to absence of regular warden and assistant wardens in the hostels. They alleged that due to absence of VC, Pahari Advisory Board, rampant corruption was prevalent in Board activities and to check that it becomes must to immediately fill the post.
They expressed concern that every year crores of rupees sanctioned for scholarship to Pahari community get lapsed with criminal and corrupt intention of the concern authorities, which release the amount at that time when it becomes quite impossible for Principals and other DDOs to draw and disburse the same to poor students. “Later, this amount is re-allotted to some fraudulent computer centers and private institutions on commission basis”, they said adding involvement of Pahari Advisory Board in this could not be ruled out.
They said that the criminal silence of Pahari leaders over these multi-crore scams in scholarship and Pahari hostels is suspicious and asked them to clear their stand on these scams, which are related to career of poor Pahari children.
Veteran Pahari leaders, AR Mirza and Shamim Mughal said that Government must grant ST status to Pahari community without any further delay. They appealed Pahari community of the State to join their head and hand to fight against discrimination with the community.
