RAMNAGAR, Aug 10: Alleging total neglect of Ramnagar constituency on developmental front with all the works launched by him having come to a grinding halt, NPP leader and former MLA Harshdev Singh criticized the Coalition Government for according a highly discriminatory treatment to the area.
Cautioning the State Govt to desist from its persistent bias and prejudice against Ramnagar during the last seven months, Mr Singh said that people of the area would be constrained to take to streets if the pressing public issues were not addressed at the earliest. He was addressing a huge public meeting at Ramnagar town today.
Speaking on the occasion, Harshdev said that while NPP would not relent in its fight for restoration of AIIMS in Jammu, the discrimination against the region in various other fields shall continue to be agitated by the party in various forums. He said NPP shall vigorously take up the issues of delimitation of Assembly constituencies as assured in the agenda of alliance also with rotation of reserved seats which is a necessary concomitant of the delimitation process.
Dwelling upon the local issues, the Ex-MLA called upon the local administration to ensure immediate repairs of all damaged roads and make them trafficable at the earliest. Expressing concern over the dozens of damaged transformers in various villages, he sought their immediate repairs. He lambasted the Govt for its proposal to close down 169 primary and middle schools in Ramnagar constituency which had created lot of resentment in the remote and far flung areas.
The NPP leader alleged arbitrary transfers of teachers in Ramnagar and maintained that some of the teachers with 8-10 years of stay, had been allowed to continue. He also alleged that forest mafia was operational in Ramnagar and there is large scale felling of green trees, smuggling of timber, medicinal plants and encroachment on forest land. He expressed his grave concern over the shabby plight of health institutes of Ramnagar which were running without staff.
Describing BJP as a party of power hungry, Mr Singh said that NPP is the only credible and genuine voice of the people of Jammu region and shall carry its ‘fight for Jammu’ mission to every nook and corner of the State.
