SRINAGAR, Aug 10: Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs, Relief & Rehabilitation, Sayeed Basharat Bukhari today said that Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) would be established at the divisional as well as district levels in the State to help people in case of any eventuality.
The Minister was chairing a meeting of senior officers of National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir division here today.
The meeting discussed at length the measures for identification of suitable accessible and elevated land for setting up of two state of art Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) at Jammu and Srinagar. The meeting also discussed the measures for making functional temporary EOCs as per immediate requirement and equipping them with trained manpower at the divisional and district levels till the EOCs as per national standards are fully established.
The meeting was told that Rs 1086 crore have been released under SDRF to JK following the floods of September 2014. It was informed that Utilization Certificates (UCs) for Rs 736.90 crore have been received while UCs for rest of the amount are awaited. The concerned officers were asked to submit the UCs as early as possible to pave the way for release of further funds on this account.
In view of the suggestions of Deputy Commissioners, the Minister urged for easing the norms fixed for getting relief under NDRF. He said need is to speed up the clearance of the cases pending with SDRF so that the affected families are provided relief early for their rehabilitation.
On the occasion, Joint Secretary, NDRF gave power pint presentation about the role of NDRF personnel in State.
Joint Secretary, NDRF, Major General Anurag Gupta, Commandant Jagdeep Singh, Joint ADV, Vinay Kajala besides Commissioner Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation, Dheeraj Gupta, Deputy Commissioners of all districts of Kashmir valley, senior officers of Relief and Rehabilitation department attended the meeting.
