JAMMU, Aug 11: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh today started the concept of ‘Tehsil Divas’ from Dansal tehsil of Jammu district. Under the concept, entire machinery of Revenue Department, concerning the people on daily basis, would be taken to the doorsteps of the people under one roof in the headquarter of the concerned tehsil.
Accordingly, the DC camped in Dansal Tehsil during the office hours where all the Patwaries, Girdawars, Naib-Tehsildars, Tehsildar and DC himself were holding their offices to enable people to resolve their problems on a single day.
All the Sarpanchs of the tehsil and large number of locals took the benefit of this initiative.  Many decisions were taken on spot in the interest of the people and the DC sanctioned a compensation of around Rs 7 lakh pertaining to the flash floods of September, 2014 and directed Tehsildar to ensure disbursal within one month. Around 300 families are expected to obtain benefit out of this relief.
A delegation of Chowkidars met the DC and apprised him that due to creation of new tehsils, they were not getting salaries for last five to six months. Numerous other complaints were addressed by the DC on spot. The long pending issue of Degree College Jindrah was also resolved by holding private negotiations for land compensation.
It may be mentioned that DC Jammu will be holding three of such “Tehsil Divas” every month in different tehsils of the district with the intension to provide the services of all Revenue officials to the  people at least on one day in a month and ensure speedy decisions. The next “Tehsil Divas” will be held on August 24 in Khour tehsil.
