Leh, Aug 11: Former Minister and senior National Conference leader Tsetan Namgyal today assailed the PDP-BJP Government for its callousness towards rain and flood hit people of Nobra Constituency, saying despite colossal loss to property, nothing concrete has been done to mitigate the problems of sufferers.
“The people are suffering and the ruling coalition is taking sadistic pleasure by not attending to their accumulated problems”, Mr Namgyal said during his extensive tour of the affected villages.
Accompanied by local party functionaries, the former Minister visited Khalsar, Lakjung, Sumoor, Kygar, Yulkam, Diskit, Bogdang, Turtuk and Tyakshi-Pachathang villages and took stock of the devastation caused by flash floods. He expressed solidarity with the affected people and asked the administration to wake up from their deep slumber and assess the losses so that the people are provided immediate interim relief in terms of cash assistance and free rations.
Mr Namgyal expressed anguish over slackness of the administration and concerned agencies for not taking preventive measures in time to avert the disaster. He said the lackadaisical attitude of the administration post flash floods speaks about its callousness, as no agency is willing to provide some sort of relief to the people.
The former Minister met the sufferers and assured them that their problems will be taken up at appropriate level for immediate redressal.
