BJP, PDP, Cong, others celebrate I-Day

JAMMU, Aug 16: Bharatiya Janata Party, PDP, Congress  besides several other political parties celebrated 69th Independence Day in various functions organised across the State the other day.
Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar Kavinder Gupta unfurled National flag and greeted people on 69th Independence Day in an impressive function held at party office Gandhi Nagar. He recalled the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who struggled for the freedom of the country after it has been under British rule for a long time. He also said that all communities of the country should live in harmony and work together towards its development.
Member Parliament, Rajaya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas hoisted tricolor at Baba Kailakh Dev Mandir premises in presence of large number of gathering of the area. On this occasion,  members of Baba Kailakh Dev Mandir Committee and prominent persons were also present. VHP State general secretary Shakti Dutt Sharma was guest of honour.
After hoisting the tri-color, the BJP MP said that this auspicious day remembers us the sacrifice of those people who laid down their lives for freedom struggle. Due to their sacrifice, we are living in independent country. He also highlighted the role of dedicated workers of BJP who worked hard.  He said Dr Shayama Parshad Mukerjee, Pt Prem Nath Dogra, Master Sohan Lal Sharma, Sita Ram and many others dedicated their life for upliftment of BJP in J&K.
Shakti Dutt and  Kuldeep Magotra also spoke on this occasion. Master Aaradhya Sharma presented poem on value of tricolor. BJP leader Karan Singh, Bahadur Singh, Sarpanch Rajdev Singh, Sunil Dutt Sharma, Aksar Ali and   Mandir Committee members were also present on this occasion.
Celebrating 69th Independence Day with full fervor and gaiety, State vice president BJP and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma, hoisted the tricolor in various areas of Jammu West on Saturday. Mr Sharma hoisted the tricolor at Shakti Nagar,  Talab Tillo, Janipur, New Plot, Sarwal and other adjoining areas. He was also accompanied by a large number of party workers and others.
Addressing the gatherings, the BJP MLA congratulated the people on this auspicious occasion and said that it is indeed a great honor for us that we are living in a country which has a great past and memorable history. He said our nation today is progressing on the path of development on a large scale and the whole credit goes to none other than our Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his leadership quality which has turned the nation into a progressive mode from the last one year and has made policies which are helping the downtrodden sections of the society.
The Independence day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour across the Jammu East constituency. The day was celebrated at all the prominent places of Jammu East by  MLA Rajesh Gupta. Flag hoisting ceremonies were organised by the residents, activists and the members of the market associations and a large number of people participated in the event. The national tricolour was hoisted at City Chowk, party’s office at Kachi Chawni, Pacca Danga, Rajinder Bazaar, Vir Marg, Hari Market, Ghumat Bazaar, Bus Stand, Mahajan Hall and Raghunath Bazaar by the MLA.
Rajesh Gupta while addressing the gatherings said that this is the first independence day in the State of J&K under BJP rule.  Mr Gupta quoted from the recent launch of his book ” Ek Hi Sapna ” on all round development said that in a short span of six months an amount of Rs 6 crore has been spent in the Jammu East constituency for various developmental activities. The prominent market places like Raghunath Bazaar, Kanak Mandi and Rajinder Bazaar are being developed as Heritage Bazaars.
The prominent people who accompanied the MLA  included Sunil Sharma, Ramesh Sharma, Chaman Lal, Raj Kumar, Gopal, Amit, Prof Sham, PC Gupta, Kuldeep and Ashwani.
Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha also celebrated the 69th Independence Day at Green Belt Park, Channi Himmat with enthusiasm and gaiety.  A large number of  people participated in it. The occasion was organized by Ishant Gupta (Ashu)  president District Jammu BJYM & Kulbir Charak State publicity incharge BJYM. The chief guest on the day was Col (Rtd)  PK Mangotra and guest of honours were Ajay Pargal State general secretary BJYM & Bharat Sharma State vice president BJYM.
The function started with hoisting of National Flag, followed by singing of National Anthem, after that distribution of traditional halwa. On the occasion, People showed great enthusiasm and remembered the sacrifices of  our brave Indian soldiers and freedom fighters.
Senior BJP leader Ishfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal and national executive member ST Morcha today said that Pakistan Independence Day celebrated in Srinagar will not be tolerated. Mr Poswal said that if  Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed wants to restore lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir, he should not allow such anti-national acts in the State.
Poswal was addressing people after hoisting national flag in Tanghar town of bordering Karnah constituency in Kupwara district. “I will be forced to urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and take action against anti-national elements if Mufti Sayeed failed to book the culprits for daring to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day in Srinagar on August 14,” the BJP leader said.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Jammu celebrated the 69th Independence day and hoisted National Flag  at party office, Gandhi Nagar.  General secretary Daman Bhasin hoisted tricolor in presence of senior leaders and party workers and extended his greetings to the people of  Nation on Independence Day.
Addressing the gathering Mr  Bhasin called upon the people to preserve the hard fought freedom and expressed that this freedom is earned one by shedding blood and it is the duty of every citizen to play their individualistic role for the welfare of society and country. A large number of people including men, women, children and youth participated with zeal and enthusiasm.
Highlighting the importance of this day he said Independence Day reminds us of our duties towards the nation and of our role which is as important  at attaining freedom for us. He while greeting the people said that every Indian should respect the tricolor and must bow down to serve the country by avoiding the conflict on the basis of caste, creeds religions and languages.
Independence Day was also celebrated at PDP, Ward No-6 Dhar Road Udhampur. Hans Raj Kalotra newly elected District president  Udhampur hoisted the National flag along with many PDP workers. Mr Kalotra greeted the people on this occasion and remembered all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom of India.
While speaking he appealed the people to maintain brotherhood, peace and harmony at any cost. He appealed the people to remain vigilant against  the designs of anti-national elements. National anthem was sung by all the participants. Sweet were distributed among all.

PDP leader, MLC and member of Waqf Council J&K, Firdoos Tak has greeted the people of district Kishtwar and generally the country on the joyous occasion of our Independence Day.
“On the occasion of the Independence Day, I have great pleasure to convey my heartiest greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said.
He said that on this auspicious occasion, we take pride in the achievements of our nation and salute the sacrifices of our valiant freedom fighters. This Independence Day let us resolve to strive towards attaining social equality and dignity for every citizen of India, he said.
Congress Party celebrated  69th Independence Day  at all its district and block headquarters today. The main  function was held at PCC office Jammu where Anil Chopra, president District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) hoisted National Flag in the presence of functionaries of PCC, DCC, Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, Seva Dal, INTUC, NSUI and the people from all sections of society.
Senior Vice presidents PCC Sham Lal Sharma (former minister); Vice president Kanta Bhan; chief spokesman  Ravinder Sharma and senior leaders Yogesh Sawhney, Vikram Malhotra, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma,  Shah Mohd Choudhary, Rajnish Sharma, Indu Pawar,  Shamsher Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Pawan Raina,  BB Gupta, Ch Sukh Dev Singh, Madan Lal Malagar, Mian Nazir, RK Khajuria and Babu Singh were among the prominent who attended the function.
Speaking on the occasion Sham Lal congratulated the people of J&K on this occasion and also cautioned about the nefarious designs of the  divisive forces working against the State and Country. He  said that  Congress party has always played a vital role to maintain unity and integrity of the nation and  it is the need of the hour that we should  unitedly fight and thwart the evil designs of the divisive and antinational forces.
At Sunderbani,  S Mohinder Singh, senior Congress leader hoisted national flag on Independence Day, amidst  raising slogans Azad Hindustan Zindabad and the enthusiastic national anthem was recited by gathering.
Speaking on the occasion Singh recalled the contribution of  Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Sukh Dev, Subash Chander Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Mulana Abul Kalam Azad and many other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives to liberate India from foreign rulers and guide modern India towards its substantive progress.
Prominent among those who were present on the occasion included Tirath Ram Sarpanch, DN Sharma, Puran Chand, Lok Raj, Manik Raina, Sanjay Sharma, Ashwani Sharma, Mohan Lal, Mukhtiyar Singh and Pinka Prashar.
At Vijaypur, an impressive Independence day function was held where former minister PCC leader S Manjeet Singh unfurled the national flag amidst a huge gathering of people from all sections of society. The enthusiastic national anthem recited by the school children and others.
Manjeet Singh delivered an emotional speech which thrilled the people with desire to serve the nation. He hailed the contribution of Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh, Raj Garu, Sukh Dev, Subash Chander Bose, Mahatma Gandhi,  and others who sacrificed their lives to liberate India from Britishers. He also recalled the leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi who sacrificed their lives for the unity and integrity of the country.
Prominent among those were present on the occasion  Tirath Bhagat, Babal Gupta, Joginder Bhagat, Babu Ram Bhagat, Gharu Singh, Thoru Ram, Sujan Singh, Tilak Raj Sharma, Ram Lal Sharma and others.
In Udhampur,  Ashok Gupta, president DCC Udhampur hoisted national flag in a colorful function held in thwe town. A large number of people were present on the occasion. The speakers  recalled the great freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle.   Vijay Manhas, Surinder Khajuria, Ashok Bakshi, Manav Upadhya, Gopal Khajuria, Ravi Shashtri,  Girdhari Lal Basnotra, Anayatullah, Sunil Gupta, Lamberdar Kartar Singh, Suraj Choudhary, Anil Pachiala and others were the prominent who attended the function.
Former Minister and MLC from Congress Jugal Kishore Sharma hoisted national flag in the Independence Day  function held at Govt High School Panjar in Mongri tehsil of district Udhampur. Mr Sharma while addressing the gathering  recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and also paid them rich tributes. He referred to the importance of the day. He also took ceremonial salute of the march past. The students presented cultural items on the occasion.
At Manjakote in Rajouri, former minister and PCC general secretary  Shabir Ahmed Khan unfurled the National Flag. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Khan  recalled the freedom struggle and sacrifices of National heroes.
He said that  after getting independence their was fight against the poverty and hunger, which was won successfully under the leadership of Pt Jawaharlal Nehru, Lal Bhadur Shashtri, Indira Gandhi and Rajive Gandhi and today is the fight against the divisive and communal forces who are out to divide the country on communal, religion and caste lines.  He appealed the people to  defeat such forces and strengthen the bonds of secularism at all level.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee, while celebrating the Independence Day hoisted tri-colour at  Party headquarters, Srinagar today. Congress leaders while hoisting tri-colour at Party office (Srinagar)   distributed sweets and greeted one another on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion PCC general secretary Surinder Singh Channi recalled the sacrifices made by Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and several other frontline freedom movement leaders, having braved the brunt of British rulers, they sacrificed everything for the sake of prestige  and honour of Nation and  the people.
Mr Singh said that people of the Nation must not forget their sacrifices, if India is free and developing Nation today that is because of the sacrifices by the leaders Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Nehru, Maulan Abul Kalam Azad and several others leaders. He said the best way to celebrate the Independence day was to maintain the secular fabric and safeguarding the integrity and sovereignty of the Country.
Those who were present on the occasion included District president Srinagar Abdul Gani Khan, Aftab Ahmad Beigh Mohd Sultan, Abid Kashmiri, Fidous Ahmad Wani and others.
Meanwhile, J&K Pradesh Youth Congress while celebrating the 69th Independence day hoisted  tri- colour at District Congress office Kargil today and distributed sweets.
On this occasion, IYC Secretary I/C J&K Dr Uma Shankar Panday, PYC President Pranav Shagotra alongwith Talib Hussain LYC President Ladakh, Amir Rasool, Waseem Ahmed, Parveen Akhter, Bakar Hussain and Mohd Ali were  present.
PCC general secretary, Vikram Malhotra also unfurled national flag at several places of Jammu East during functions organised by Congress workers. Mr Malhotra also addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of the day. A large number of Congress workers and his supporters attended the programme.
Former Corporator and Congress leader, Jai Singh organised a function at Sainik Colony where former minister Raman Bhalla hoisted  national flag. A large number of Congress workers and residents of this locality attended the function. The speakers recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters.
PCC secretary and local leader  from Bishnah Shashi Sharma unfurled national flag at function held at Anant Vidya Kendra High School Bishnah. National Anthem was sung by the students and others present on the occasion.  The students also presented cultural items. Mr Sharma addressed the gathering and recalled the sacrifices of great freedom fighters.
Independence Day was also celebrated with great patriotic fervour by the prominent Congress workers, businessmen, citizens, farmers, persons of labour class and youth at Tara Chowk, Bishnah. The national flag was hoisted by  Mahender Kumar Bhardwaj (advocate), senior Congress leader and member Pradesh Congress Executive Committee and Ashok Dubey PCC organising secretary.
Speaking on the occation, Mr Bhardwaj recalled the supreme sacrifices made by the great leaders and political activists in the freedom struggle of the nation. The great leaders  like Mahatma Gandhi, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru, Sardar Patel, Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, BR Ambedkar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru, Chander Shekher and many more political activists who got India liberated from the Britishers were prominently remembered. Mr Bhardwaj also paid tribute to all the officers and men of our security forces who made the supreme sacrifices to preserve the territorial integrity.
Others who spoke on the occation included Ashwani Puri PCC organising secretary,  Darshan Sharma, Ghanshyam S harma, Gopal Bhagat, Vijay Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Ajay Kumar and many others.
On Independence Day, Maheshwar Singh Manhas, senior Congress leader unfurled the National Flag at Paloura. The programme was attended by large number of people. Singh along with others paid floral tributes to the freedom fighers. Prominent among others present were Bodh Raj, Pawan Kumar, Ajeet Singh, Suresh Sharma, Dharminder, Subash Keshav, Pankaj Chib, etc.
NCP state president, Th Randhir Singh hoisted national flag at a function held at Party office here today. A large number of party functionaries and workers attended the programme. Mr Singh greeted the people of the State    on this occasion and paid his rich tributes to the national heroes. He stressed for the unity and integrity of the nation and appealed the people to remain vigilant from the forces hell bent to divide the people on communal and regional lines.
National Democratic Party also celebrated Independence Day in a function held at party office, BC Road here on Saturday. Party president Ravi Bakshi hoisted the National Flag in presence of party functionaries. They sung the National anthem and greeted people on this occasion.  The sweets were also distributed. They recalled the sacrifices of freedom fighters and paid them rich tributes. N K Atri, Ravinder Singh, Rajesh Gupta, SC Sharma, Vijay Anand, RK Bali and others were also present.
Janata Dal Secular also hoisted national flag at the party office Raghunath Bazar Jammu and celebrated the event. Ranjay Bargotra acting president of the State unit unfurled the national Flag. At Nagrota, the JD activists led by R R Sharma celebrated Independence Day function. The sweets were also distributed among the workers on the occasion.
